Fundraising Update – Summer 2017
Over the summer months we have seen some wonderful fundraising efforts from both individuals and companies. Here’s our round-up of the great support we have received:
Metro Safety 6 in 6 Charity Bike Ride
Metro Safety have supported us for several years and once again demonstrated their commitment to Children’s Burns Trust last month. As part of the campaign to raise £20,000 for 4 Good Causes during Metro Safety’s 25inci anniversary year, a team of 10 cyclists took on the huge challenge of cycling through 6 countries in 6 days, covering a total distance of 500 miles.
The Metro Safety ‘6 in 6’ team left Saarbrücken, Germany on the 21st September and cycled through France, Luxembourg, Belgium and Holland before finishing the ride in Trafalgar Square, London on the 26inci September. They returned safe but sore! It had been a tough but memorable challenge for those taking part. The team was made up of a mix of competent and beginner cyclists and a combined age which probably exceeded the mileage!
In keeping with Metro Safety’s values, the focus was on raising much needed funds for charity. The riders expensed the challenge themselves with all sponsorship raised going to the company’s nominated charities which include Children’s’ Burns Trust, Macmillan Cancer Support, Mesothelioma UK and Caring Matters Now.
Mum’s Challenge to Raise Funds and Thank Children’s Burns Trust
Natalie Settle, ran the Bury 10K with friends Claudia, Amy and Emma – and raised an amazing £1,330!! We’ll be writing more about Natalie on the blog later this month. A truly inspiring story to follow.
Individual, Anonymous and Birthday Donations
In the last quarter we have received several anonymous donations – and even someone who asked for their birthday gift to be given to us as a donation. Other fundraisers this summer have included:
Gareth Johns – who raised nearly £900 taking part in the 55 hours non-stop Behemoth Challenge
Kenton Robbins, who took part in the Castle Howard Triathlon and raised over £130
Tom Adams, raised nearly £300 cycling
And
Claire Ellis who raised over £800 at her charity event in June.
We are extremely grateful to everyone who fundraises for us. Thank you!!
All your efforts enable the continuation of our programme – including the all-important family weekends that we run in association with the Fire Fighters Charity. Our latest one was held at their centre in Littlehampton (Marine Court). Last month 6 families were accompanied on the Family Weekend by burn care professionals from across London and the South East, and once again the weekend was hailed a great success.
