Imperial Winter Ball 2020 event round up

We are fortunate enough to have the support of a number of groups who support the Children’s Burns Trust year in, year out. The funds that are raised at events are vitally important to the continuation and growth of our annual programme, and the Imperial Winter Ball is an important fixture in the calendar.

The 2020 ball was held in London on 7^th March and raised an incredible £10,000 for the Children’s Burns Trust. Christopher Arkell, Chairman of the Imperial Winter Ball Committee, sent us the following note which he has kindly allowed us to share:

It is with a heart at once joyful and saddened, that I can say that this year’s Ball in aid of the Children’s Burns Trust was another tremendous success. Joyful because we raised £10,000 for the vital work of the Trust thanks to the unstinting effort of the Ball’s magnificent Committee and the generosity of the Ball’s loyal supporters. Nearly 120 guests dined and danced the evening away to the waltzes and quadrilles performed by the British Imperial Orchestra under the masterful baton of Lt. Col. Graham Jones (rtd.) and the watchful gaze of the famous Stuart Marsden, the Ball’s Master of Ceremonies. The live auction, conducted with his usual brilliance by Edward Rising, was superbly supported. Everyone who attended thought there was no better way to raise funds for the Children’s Burns Trust than such an evening of lively elegance and graceful charm.

Yet I and all my Committee are saddened that our Ball was probably the last such event that could be held before the curtailment of life in London following the corona virus outbreak. We send our collective good wishes for those who are suffering its effects; our condolences to any who lose family members and friends; and our encouragement to everyone to remain in good spirits during this period. We think especially of those whom our fund-raising activities will help at this most difficult of times, and we will return, I am sure, later this year to plan another spectacular event for 2021 which can be enjoyed by all who attend, and will comfort all those who will benefit from it”.
