Activities and fundraising – reviewing a fabulous 2024
You have walked, run, baked cakes, made crafts and much, much more; calling on family, friends, neighbours and strangers and we want to say a HUGE thank you to all of you.
As we come to the end of 2024 we want to acknowledge the fabulous contributions of our individual fundraisers and supporters, corporate supporters, ambassadors and everyone that has helped them to raise vital funds for the charity.
Together we can continue to support children and families following a burn injury, provide family rehabilitation weekends and extremely important to all of us, continue the prevention and awareness campaigns.
We share a few more stories and photos below of your fundraising and support events since our last newsletter update in the summer.
Individual support
Shannon Eddy climbed Snowden in July and raised an amazing £475 for the charity
Ellie Lammiman and Andrew Boasman took part in the London Big Half on September 7th.
Ellie selected Children’s Burns Trust from the charities listed on the event website and after visiting the Children’s Burns Trust website felt inspired to run for the charity in recognition of the prevention and awareness work that we do, with her young nephew in mind.
Andrew is the husband of ambassador Sue Boasman and supported by family and friends signed up to compete in his first half marathon.
Their combined fundraising total continues to grow and they have now raised over £1500 for the charity.
A thank you to Dan Passmore who completed the Eastbourne Ironman challenge events and was able to have his fundraising total matched by his company Aspen, raising nearly £2500 for the charity. Dan supports the charity more than 20 years after working as a firefighter and seeing the support provided by the charity to a young girl he rescued from a housefire.
Ambassador, Kiki dedicated the proceeds of a show by their theatre company Enlight Insight in October. The focus of the theatre company is on thought provoking theatre that inspires social change and we are grateful to Kiki and the other performers for their support in raising awareness of the work of the charity and for their generous donation of £115.
Burn Professionals
Nicole Lee, now Network Manager for London and South East England Burn Network took on another Ultra Challenge on behalf of the charity in July, raising £580 by completing the Peak District challenge.
Sue Boasman, Advanced Nurse Practitioner in the Burns Unit at Chelmsford nominated Children’s Burns Trust for their neighbourhood Christmas light switch on event that raised a wonderful £245 for the charity. Jo is seen below with Christine who knitted little bears that were sponsored to be given to children admitted with a burn injury over Christmas, with a little get-well message added by the sponsor…..it was so heartwarming to see this support to cheer up children who will sadly sustain a burn injury in the coming weeks.
Jo Myers, Children’s Burns Trust Operations & Relations Manager The support of staff working in burn services across the country always amazes us, knowing how busy they are and yet still finding time to help fundraise for the work that we do to support children, families and burn service projects.
Corporate supporters
We are extremely grateful to our corporate supporters who continue to work with the charity and offer support in many different ways.
Leigh Day and Spectral AI offered sponsorship to support National Burn Awareness Day and HCC sponsored the ice creams and celebrations for the 10th Littlehampton family weekend with the London and South East Burns Services.
A special mention goes to ASFP who introduced us to Chloe and Kate from Women in Fire Safety who invited Children’s Burns Trust to be their first ever chosen charity at their awards event in September. We all met up again at the ASFP annual awards event in Leicester in December.
The generous donations made by the guests at both events raised over £3500
